What is Muscle Fatigue?

What is Muscle Fatigue? | SF Custom Chiropractic

Muscle fatigue is something that we all have experienced. From pains and strains, simple soreness, not feeling up to your regular routines, we have been there. There are a variety of reasons why fatigue happens and what that means for your body. It is important to always be listening to your body and making sure you are taking care of your body inside and out. Those who have endured sports injuries or athletes have the most experience with muscle fatigue. If extensive exercise is not in your routine, muscle fatigue could be revealing an underlying issue.

Common Causes of Muscle Fatigue

While we know that exercise, sports activity, and physical activity are common causes of fatigue there are more that you might not have known. Here are some more common causes of muscle fatigue.

  • Anxiety

  • And More.

What Does Muscle Fatigue Feel Like?

The muscles we use all the time experience muscle fatigue the most. We have a general idea of what this feels like. Fatigue can in fact happen anywhere on your body. It is important to pay close attention to the location of your pain or fatigue. Here are some of the most common symptoms of muscle fatigue.

  • Muscle Soreness
  • Muscle Twitching
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Muscle Cramping
  • Muscle Weakness

How Is Muscle Fatigue Treated?

Again, if you have experienced muscle fatigue due to exercise, you know it does go away. Stretch before and after your exercises and even on your rest days. Don’t forget to warm up your muscles so they are ready for impact. However, if muscle fatigue happens to you and you are not exercising regularly you should call your doctor. The most important first step is to rule out any serious health conditions. Typically muscle fatigue resolves after some time to rest. You can improve this for yourself by staying hydrated and choosing nutritious foods. As chiropractors and massage therapists , we focus on giving the body what it needs to heal itself and perform it’s best. We do that with making sure the nervous system is aligned and choosing healthy foods. When we treat our patients we treat the whole body, not just your single area of pain.

If you have any concerns about muscle fatigue or any other areas of pain, come in for a consultation and we can better assess a custom plan of wellness for you. Our San Francisco chiropractic clinics are conveniently located throughout the city so you can always have access to the best care.
